What is The Bullshit Jobber?
By employing critical design, we aim to depict an extremist future scenario for office workers. Leveraging current trends where companies prioritize investing in efficiency, we have chosen to explore this concept.
Virtual Reality
Within the VR headset, we incorporate provocative elements, enabling individuals to carry out their seemingly mundane tasks in an addictive manner. This cleverly masks the nature of their jobs, preventing them from realizing the inherent nature of their roles. Through this design, we condition the individual to operate efficiently within what might otherwise be considered a "bullshit job."
This design not only offers an immersive experience for the user but also engages the observer in contemplating these dynamics.
Posters
Complementing the VR experience, we've crafted a series of immersive posters. These posters seamlessly blend into the virtual landscape, visually reinforcing the narrative.
Through impactful visuals and clever juxtaposition, the posters highlight the allure of addictive work patterns while hinting at the underlying monotony. These subliminal cues further reinforce the conditioning process, encouraging users to unconsciously embrace their roles.
With these posters, we enhance user immersion and provide observers with an additional layer of engagement. This cohesive experience prompts contemplation on the broader implications of contemporary work culture.
Teamwork
This project was meticulously crafted in collaboration with a dedicated team of five talented students. In my role, I spearheaded the conceptualization and coding aspects, working intricately to bring the vision to life. Together, we harnessed our collective expertise to seamlessly meld critical design and coding, resulting in a thought-provoking VR experience that pushes the boundaries of storytelling and technology.
